Project Delorean

Trench Soil Mixing (TSM) & Deep Soil Mixing (DSM)

Millersburg, Oregon

Project Description

AGI designed and constructed the Deep Soil Mixing ground improvement system for Project DeLorean in Millersburg, OR. Upon contract execution AGI completed design, received permit approval and deployed 2 batch plants, 2 trench mixing units, and 1 rotary drill rig in under 5 weeks. The Trench Soil Mixing (TSM) & Deep Soil Mixing (DSM) installed as closed cell grids was economized via trench mixing technology which enabled AGI to install over 92,000 cubic yards of treated soil in less than 9 weeks. Soils were treated to depth of 30-ft and 33-ft utilizing 2-ft and 3-ft trench mixing and 4-ft diameter DSM concurrently. AGI’s design mitigated the effects of consolidation and liquefaction settlement to support building footings, slab-on-grade, and heavily loaded process equipment foundations.

Application

  • Limit Static and Seismic Settlement of footings, equipment foundations, and floor slabs.
    • 1-inch Total Static / Seismic Settlement
    • ½-inch Total Static / Seismic Differential Settlement
  • Increase bearing capacity.to 4,000psf for footings and equipment foundations

Geotechnical Conditions

  • Soft Compressible Silt / Silty Sand / Clay
  • Liquefiable Soils
