Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Shop Assistant

We offer our services nationwide with support from our regional offices, and through close collaboration with contractors and owners, we provide cost effective and timely solutions contributing to the overall success of the project.

AGI is immediately seeking Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Shop Assistant to assist with preventative maintenance and repairs of diesel equipment in the yard and on-site.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Shop Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Perform highly skilled and complex mechanical repairs on both light and heavy equipment (Bauer, SoilMec, Comacchio, CZM, Watson, etc.)
  • Repair engines, electrical, hydraulics, troubleshooting, and able to read schematics.
  • Perform the duties of a Master Mechanic involved in hands-on repairs and maintenance of concrete pumps, air compressors, generators, and other heavy diesel equipment.
  • Inspect equipment, analyze, and plan the sequence of repairs.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues quickly and efficiently, analytical ability to find solutions to difficult technical problems.
  • Organize and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist in fabrication tasks such as cutting, drilling, assembling components.
  • Help shop manager with equipment inspections to identify issues or needed repairs.
  • Show a willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety and commit to a safety-conscious working environment, participating in daily safety briefings.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Mechanic with an emphasis on heavy construction equipment (Bauer, Liebherr, Leffer, Soilmec, Watson, Sumitomo).
  • 2+ years of experience with heavy equipment including hydraulics, electronic system troubleshooting, repair and maintenance.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Welding skills preferred.
  • Have a strong work ethic and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license required.
